Windscreen mount

Simple brackets, basic tools

I recently bought a decent universal windscreen on Lazada. Unfortunately, its mounting hardware turned out to be incompatible with the GPX 250 Twin. A few simple homemade brackets solved that.

Making a universal windscreen fit

The Lazada windscreen on the bike, using brackets made from perforated steel strip.

A hardware-store solution

The fix is straightforward: a length of general-purpose perforated steel strip, pliers, a file and electrical tape. You can buy all of these at your nearest hardware store.

Bend, trim and test-fit

I bent the strip to fit the bike. Any excess length can easily be snapped off with pliers. The brackets attach under the existing headlight mounting fasteners at the bottom and the instrument-cluster mounting fasteners at the top.

For the lower mounting point, I had to file 4 mm off one edge of the first 15 mm of the strip to make that end narrower. Once the brackets had been test-fitted, I removed them and wrapped them in electrical tape.

A little clearance around the ignition switch

The plastic ignition-switch cover also needed a little filing to clear the bracket. I filed it to fit, checking the clearance on the bike.
