A simple answer to long-ride discomfort
Being tall, I sometimes find that my legs go numb on longer rides with my feet on the stock footpegs. I wanted a comfortable place farther forward where I could rest my feet and change position.
I bought handlebar risers, universal footpegs and a handlebar cross brace on Lazada. With these inexpensive parts and only basic tools, I put together a pair of forward-mounted footpegs. Now I can stretch my legs out on highway rides.
Three off-the-shelf components
- Handlebar risers: repurposed as part of the mounting arrangement.
- Universal footpegs: the folding footrests.
- A handlebar cross brace: the crossbar between the mounting points.
The setup from both sides
These views show the added footpegs ahead of the stock riding position. The original footpegs, gear lever and brake pedal remain in place.

The mounting details
The close-up shows how the purchased parts fit together: the mounting blocks, slotted bracket, bolts and cross brace.

Folded up
The footpegs fold upward when I do not need them.

Version 2
For the second version, I changed the cross brace’s mounting point, replaced the footpeg pivot pin with an M8 bolt—which required drilling out the pivot holes—and added a stop plate.
The assembly is now stiffer, with less play in the footpeg. The stop plate also holds the footpeg slightly higher.
